ABOUT ALISHA
AUTHOR’S NOTE
This is a paranormal reverse harem and is my first paranormal I’ve ever written. If you're looking for heavy world building and lots of magic and adventure, this series isn’t for you. It has a contemporary vibe. This is a bully, academy, enemies to lovers, best friends to loves, fated mates, rejected mates and step-brother romance. It will contain MM content heavily throughout the series.
Chapter 1
Abby
I let out a frustrated sigh, throwing my pencil onto my beat up, worn down desk. Leaning back into my seat, I try to pay attention to my teacher, but all I can hear are the whispers of the surrounding students. No one cares about anything the teacher has to say, and the teacher cares just as little.
It's like she keeps on going just for the sake of saying she did her job, but could care less if we pass or not. It's not an unexpected thing here at Brimstone High. I mean, it is a school full of demons, after all. Getting A’s and passing classes is the last thing they have in mind.
Looking out the window, I watch Hellfire Forest burn in the distance. My eyes find this one bush that's been forever burning. As I watch, I daydream of leaving this literal Hellhole.
I don't belong here. I guess, technically I do, seeing as how my father is the King of Hell, and I'm set to rule with him one day, but I'm not like the rest of the students in this school. Not just this school, but in all of Hell. There aren’t many angels here, only a few fallen ones apart from my father and I. So fitting in is not really something I do, not that I care. I'm not bullied or anything, but I hear the rumors and whispers the others say behind my back. No one dares to mess with the Devil’s daughter, but that doesn't mean they have to like me either.
The bell rings, and I quickly snatch up my bag, rushing to beat the after school crowd. I make it to the front door before I hear my name being called.
“Abby!” Turning around, I see my best friend, Leo, running to catch up. I smile, watching him scramble past people to get to me. Leo is my only friend. He's the one who's taken the time to get to know me and not be afraid of who my father is. He's a lot like me because neither of us take after our parents.
Leo is an incubus like his father, and his mother is a succubus. The difference between him and his parents comes into play when you realize that Leo is still a virgin. He hates what he is and doesn't feel like he should be out having sex, or feeding off other people's sexual energy, just because that's what's expected of him. But because of this, he's not getting the power he needs, and is practically powerless. If it wasn't for him being friends with me, he would probably be eaten alive by the assholes of this school, but being associated with me unofficially grants him immunity.
“Hey Leo,” I giggle, reaching up to brush his shaggy blond hair from his face that's now sticking up all over the place from running. When my fingers makes contact with his forehead, a little shock stings, causing me to quickly snatch my hand back. Leo rubs his forehead and blushes.
Oh, did I mention Leo is also my fated mate? When we first found out, we had just hit the age where most demons get their spark. Think of it as hitting puberty. Only for me, it's like I got hit with it twice. All the normal things a woman gets, added on top of the new hormones for my mate, rushed through my veins.
When we first sparked, both Leo and I freaked out. We didn't know what this meant for us or how it would affect our friendship. We have been best friends since the first day of kindergarten. We didn't want to ruin what we had.
After spending a few weeks away from each other, we couldn't stand to be apart anymore. Whether it was the impending bond or just that we truly missed each other, we didn't care.
So, we met up and talked it out. We decided to push the bond aside and stay friends, for now. We were only sixteen at the time, after all. We will have tons of time for more serious things like that in the future.
But it's hard. Whenever I see him, I get butterflies. He may be what people call ‘dorky’, but he is gorgeous. Being an incubus, you're almost guaranteed to be attractive. I have yet to meet one who isn't.
I’m always getting lost in his ocean blue eyes, wanting to run my hands through his silky blond hair. And his body. Dude has abs for days and arms that could easily lift me off my feet.
“Where are you off to?” he asks, clearing his throat as he avoids eye contact. He shifts uncomfortably, like it hurts to stand still.
When my eyes find the impressive bulge in his pants, I know why. My eyes go wide and snap up to his. He blushes, scratching the back of his neck before taking his backpack off and moving it to cover his erection.
“Sorry. It's just...” he says, looking embarrassed.
“The spark, I know,” I say, and he nods.
He's not the only one affected by it. Anytime we touch, heat courses through my veins, leaving me wet and wanting. I can’t count the number of times I’ve had to take care of these feelings myself, alone at night in my room. Thinking of all the dirty things he could do to me...
“Abby,” Leo's voice snaps me out of my naughty thoughts. Looking up, I blush at the smirk on his face. It's like he knew what I was thinking.
“Sorry, what?” I ask, trying to play it cool.
“I said, can I come over?” he laughs.
“Oh, um yeah sure, I guess you can.”
“Cool.” He smiles, and we take off to my place.
LEO AND I ARE HANGING out in my room watching TV on my bed when my dad bursts through the door.
Leo jumps off the bed, stands, then bows before his King. I shake my head and roll my eyes before giving my father my attention.
“To what do I owe this wonderful pleasure of being granted an audience with the ‘oh great and powerful one?” I say in an overly dramatic and sarcastic tone. Leo sucks in a breath. He’s never gotten used to how my father and I talk to each other. Everyone in Hell is terrified of this man, but to me, he's like a big teddy bear.
“Ahh, I do love your brand of sarcasm, Gail.” He laughs, and I groan at his choice of a nickname for me.
“Dad, how many times do I have to tell you, it’s Abby or Abigail? Gail sounds like some stuffy, old, church lady.” I shudder.
“I can call you honey buns, or sweetie pie if you’d like,” he jokes. Leo just stands there, mouth gaping as the devil jokes like he's not the most evil man to ever exist.
“No,” I grumble, crossing my arms.
“Good. Now, the reason I’m here is I wanted to talk to you about something,” he says, all joking vanishing from his face.
“About what?” I sit up straight. It must be something big because he's never this serious with me.
“It's about your mother,” he says, voice cold.
My stomach drops at the mention of her. “What about her?”
“She got in contact with me. She asked if you could go stay with her for a bit.”
“What!” I shout, jumping up from my bed. “Why? What does she want with me after eighteen years? Why now?” I ask, growing angry. I feel a shock on my shoulder and look down to see Leo’s hand.
“Breathe,” he whispers, looking up at the top of my head. My hand shoots there automatically. I feel my horns growing, my demon side triggered by the rage I have for my mother. Closing my eyes, I take a few deep breaths and feel my horns recede.
When I open my eyes, I look over at my father, who is glaring at Leo's hand that is still on my shoulder, but he says nothing.
“Look, she's not my favorite person either, but I think you should take her up on her offer. When you turn twenty-one, you will start your training to rule alongside me, so this will be your one and only chance to experience time outside Hell,” he says, sounding more like the King of Hell and less like the dad I'm used to.
Growing up, I knew what my future would be, and no matter how much I don't want it, I have no choice in the matter. I am the princess of Hell, and someday I will be Queen, responsible for all of Hell alongside my dad.<
Biting on the side of my lip, I take a moment to think. He's right. If this is the only chance I have, I should take it.
“Okay. But don't expect me to get along with her. I'll go, but I'm only going for the chance to leave this place for a while. I still don't like her,” I grumble.
“Good, don't. That woman is the worst,” he sneers. “Pack what you need, you will be going after your last day of school,” he states, before leaving.
Turning around, I see Leo’s sitting back on the bed, with a gloomy look covering his face.
“Do you really have to go?” he asks, his frown deepening.
“I don't have to, but I want to. I need to see what the world is like outside of Hell. Once I turn twenty-one, I'm stuck here, forever unhappy,” I say, flinging myself back onto the bed. Leo lays next to me, and we turn on our side to face each other.
“You know, you don't have to be unhappy if you don't want to. If you let me, I could make you happy. If you let me love you, I'd spend every day making sure you never regret giving me a chance,” he whispers, hope, longing, and love shining bright in his eyes. My breath hitches, and my heart starts beating a mile a minute. I want everything he just said, every single thing, I'm just not ready for it. At least not right now.
When I don't say anything, he waits a few more seconds before leaning over, capturing my lips with his. The kiss is soft and sweet, but packed with so much power. The spark lights up my body like fireworks. The need to deepen the kiss is strong. My hand threads through that silky blond hair of his, and I hold him to me. He kisses me harder, and I feel a rush of lust crash into me, causing me to moan against his lips as my core grows slick.
We both pull apart fast, wide-eyed, and just stare at each other. He used his powers on me, but based on the look in his eyes, he didn't mean to.
“I'm so sorry, Abby,” he rushes to apologize. “I didn't mean to, I didn't even know I could. I mean, I knew it was possible because I'm an incubus, but I've never used them before, not once...” he rambles, and it's adorable.
“It's okay, I know it was an accident. I know you would never use your powers on me knowingly and without my permission,” I tell him with a small smile, trying to ignore the arousal dripping down my thighs.
“Never!” He assures me. “I... I should go,” he says, sitting up and scratching the back of his head, looking a little awkward now. Moving from the bed he stands and looks down at me. “Just think about what I said, okay?” he asks.
“I will. I promise.” I smile, and he smiles back saying goodbye before leaving, closing the door behind him. I get up and lock the door behind him before putting my back to the door and slide to the floor. With my head resting against the wood, and my eyes close. After a moment, I get up and head back over to my bed. I flop down onto it, taking a deep breath. I lie there with my eyes closed, allowing my mind to wander to a very naked, sexy Leo, and all the bad things I want him to do to my body. Then I take care of the big problem his burst of lust left behind.
Chapter 2
Abby
Gathering my bag, I make my way through the castle that is my home and to the portal room. Nodding at the guard, he lets me pass. When I get inside, my father is there with a few of his men. Being formal, he gives me a nod, but I can see the slight hint of a smile on his lips.
“Good luck. And I'll be seeing you at the end of the year,” he says in a professional tone, needing to uphold his reputation. He wants to hug me goodbye, but he won't. No one knows about the relationship he and I have, other than Leo.
“See you then, father,” I say, with a nod before walking through the cloudy, swirling portal. When I step onto the other side, I'm in a big, blinding white room.
“Welcome to Earth, Miss Morningstar.” A man dressed in a white and silver guard's uniform greets me.
“Hi,” I say, forcing a smile.
“I'm Tim. If you’ll come with me, I’ll bring you to your mother. She's waiting in the lobby.”
Humans have been aware that angels have lived amongst them for thousands of years, keeping to themselves on a little island country called Ethereal. The main population is made up of all types of angels, including pure blood angels, archangels, fallen angels–also known as dark angels– and nephilim. Although the angel race primarily keep reproducing within their own kind, some do mate with humans, and their offspring are then welcomed here.
I follow Tim to the lobby, and when we get there, my eyes find her immediately. My mother, the woman who abandoned me only days after I was born. I try to take deep breaths to keep my horns from making their way to the surface, but I find it incredibly hard to keep my cool when she turns her big, blue eyes on me and smiles.
She is beautiful, and you can tell she's a pure blood. She has long blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and pink pouty lips. Exactly like me. But that's where our similarities end. While she's tall and thin, I'm short and curvy. I have big breasts, a thin waist and a round ass.
“Abigail, my sweet daughter, it's so wonderful to see you,” she greets in a soft motherly voice, and I try not to roll my eyes. What bullshit. Wonderful to see me? More like meet me.
“It's Abby,” I say bitterly, and her smile drops a little. “I prefer to be called Abby.”
Her smile returns, and I wanna wipe it off her face. “Of course.”
She steps closer as if to give me a hug, but I put my hand up to stop her. “Listen, I don't know you, and I don't want to. I'm here to enjoy time on earth. Don't act like we are besties, and don't try your fake bullshit with me. I don't wanna hear it,” I snap. I know it's harsh, but she abandoned me as a baby after all.
Her face falls, and a pained, hurt look replaces her beautiful smile. She nods. “I understand,” she says in a soft, quiet voice. I'm normally not this rude, but it’s hard to be nice to a mother who’s never been in my life.
“The car is waiting,” she says, turning around and exiting the building, expecting me to follow.
This ‘car’ is not a car at all. It's a stretch limo. I snort a laugh. “Nice digs, did your archangel sugar daddy pay for this?” Okay, I'm being a bitch, but she left me and ended up with one of God’s ‘top dogs’. I have the right to be a little bitter.
“So which one are you married to? Dad never talked about it other than stating the fact that you left us for one of God’s personal archangels.”
She looks at me like she wants to explain something, but changes her mind. “Michael,” she simply states, giving me nothing else.
We get into the limo. I sit on one side, and my mother sits on the other. “I'd like to talk to you about a few things before we get to the house, if that’s alright?” she asks, and I nod.
“Michael works a lot. He has a very busy and important job, so you probably won't be seeing much of him. However, his son Isaac and his two best friends, Luke and Noah, live with us. Their mothers passed away when they were just little boys, and their fathers are all close to Michael as you probably know. So they stay with us because their fathers are just as busy.”
Great. A house full of strange boys. And it must be nice. Raising other people's kids when you can't even take care of your own.
We drive in silence for a while before pulling up to a gate. As the limo slows, I try to look out my window to get a better view, but can't see anything past the big, stone walls. The limo stops for just a second before starting back up again. When it stops again, it's in front of a big white three-story mansion. Of course, it's pure white.
I'm not impressed by the size, I live in a castle back home, but I do admire the beautiful greenery on the property grounds. In Hell, nothing grows. We have the Hellfire Forest, but that's forever burning, so there’s nothing to admire about that.
“Welcome to your new home,” the limo driver says with a nod before getting back in the vehicle and taking off the way we came.
Bending over, I pick up my bag and slip it over my shoulder. My mother starts up the stairs leading to the big glass doors, and I follow without any words.
The place is just as I expected based on what I saw from the outside; big, open, and everything is white.
“Your room is on the top floor, east wing. The boys are on the middle floor, east wing, and my room is on the top floor as well but in the west wing.”
